Drag & Drop

You can drop files onto the Coeus window to import them.

How to use it​

Drag a file from Finder (macOS) or your file manager (Linux) and drop it onto the Coeus window. Coeus detects the file type and handles it:

  • Images: copied to assets/, inserted as an image in the current note (if one is open)
  • PDFs: copied to assets/, text extracted and indexed
  • Audio and video files: transcribed if you have a transcription mode set up, saved as a note
  • Text files (.md, .txt, .csv, .json): content extracted and indexed
  • Other files: copied to assets/ but not indexed

Linking to a note​

If you have a note open when you drop a file, the attachment is linked to that note. You can see linked attachments at the bottom of the note.

If no note is open, the file is imported but not linked to any note yet.

Multiple files​

You can drop multiple files at once. Coeus imports them in sequence.

From the chat bar​

You can also click the paperclip icon in the chat bar to open a file picker. This is the same as dragging: it imports the file and optionally attaches it to your current message.

When you attach a file to a chat message, the AI can read it and answer questions about it in that conversation.
